How has the content been developed and tested?

Greg has been successfully making custom fishing lures for many years prior to development of these information products. Over this time the methods he uses have undergone constant refinement to result in better quality fishing lures that can be produced faster and more accurately.

When Greg first contemplated writing these books he decided that he wanted as many people as possible to be able to pick the books up and start making their own lures. These days Greg routinely uses all manner of tools and equipment to produce lures for his own use. He also uses all kinds of unusual materials, such as latex mold rubber and RTV silicones.

Greg realised that not everybody has access to wood lathes, compressors, drill stands, bandsaws, sanding drums, airbrushes etc. And not everybody wants or can afford special materials, so he went back to first principals and described the lure making process using only the simplest of techniques, but refined to maximise the efficiency of production and the quality of the products.

The photographs in the books were taken in Greg's workshop as he made actual lures using exactly the techniques described in the books, so you can be sure that there is no black magic involved. The lures on which the templates were produced have all been made using wood and using plastic and tested in the field to ensure thay they consistently produce the desired action.

What if I don't understand the step-by-step instructions?

Our goal with these products has always been to make them very easy to understand, and our feedback thus far indicates that this is the case. We appreciate any negative feedback you have (as well as positive feedback, of course) because it will allow us to continually refine our books to ensure that future customers get the level of value we are striving for.

The bottom line is no. These books are specifically designed to allow almost anyone to make fishing lures, not just those who have access to all the toys and materials. That being said, if you have these items you may well speed up your fishing lure making or improve the quality of your lures by using them.

No. We use off the shelf products throughout the lure making process and we neither recommend nor endorse any particular brands of specific products. Generic brands are generally fine for the techniques we use and you'll find no advertising or brand name dropping in our books. We don't recommend suppliers and don't provide links to websites because we have found that we can make exceptionally high quality lures using materials we purchase from almost any hardware store.

Are your lure making books available in print/hard copy format?

No. We have specifically designed a product for electronic distribution as we believe that this is the most effective way to reach our target audience. It also allows us to keep costs down, so our readers get the information for less than 25% of the cost of a printed book. We have no plans at this stage to produce hard copy books.

However, our customers can print their own hard copies to take into the workshop with them or to read on a train or bus.

What electronic formats are available?

Our ebooks, articles and reports are now all in .pdf format (ie portable document format). PDF files ensure that our images don't get distorted, that our templates are the correct size when printed and that there is little or no risk of virus transfer. It also compresses the files, making them small and faster to download.

How does the .pdf file work?

When you have paid for your ebook you will be taken to a link where you can download it along with any bonus promotional offers. Clicking on the link will open the .pdf in your default browser, after which you can simply save it to your desktop or other location using the toolbar. Alternatively, you may wish to right click on the link and select "Save As", choose a location to save te file and download directly to that location.

Although our ebooks contain lots of graphics and photographs, we work hard at keeping the file size as small as possible. Most of our books are between 2 and 5 MB. Download times vary tremendously. Downloading files will occassionally create conflicts with antivirus software, which can mistake the file as malicious software. When this happens you may get a warning from your anti virus program that the file is unsafe, the file may only partially download and may not open properly, it may appear to be downloading but never actually finish, or it may just not download at all.

If this occurs, we recommend that you temporarily disable your antivirus software while you download the ebook. Whilst your antivirus software is disabled you should minimise the risk to your computer by avoiding surfing any other sites and closing all other windows. As soon as the file downlod is complete you should reactivate your antivirus software immediately.

It is good policy to scan the download for viruses before you open it, although we regularly scan the files ourselves, so the risk is minimal. Once the download is complete there is usually no problem running it, although your antivirus may ask if you want to scan it before opening it for the firt time.

Is there a virus risk with your products?

No, at least not if you downoad them from our website. Antivirus software may occassionally take exception to the .pdf format, but the file is quite safe to download. We prepare the files ourselves and scan them prior to putting them on our website. We also occassionally virus scan them once they are on the site and recommend that you do the same before opening the files.

Although we take every precaution to safeguard our customers, we can take no responsibility for any loss or damage to hardware, software or data resulting from the use of our products. We urge customers to be careful about opening our products if they have been received via email or other means unless the sender is known and trusted as we can not guarantee that the files have not been tampered with.
